Job Summary
Bring up and debug 802.11 and 802.15.4 MAC & PHY layer drivers and firmware, including validation testing and optimization. Design, tune, and optimize antennas for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, GNSS, cellular, or other wireless technologies. Perform antenna tuning, impedance matching, efficiency optimization, and RF debugging using S-parameters and TRP/TIS characterization. Collaborate with Firmware, SQA, and ODMs to ensure product performance metrics are achieved and resolve customer or production issues quickly. Design and validate test cases supporting 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax/ah protocols while analyzing system integration issues such as current consumption, desense, and EMI. Utilize lab equipment for detailed assembly and rework of SMT components.
Required Qualifications
- Hands-on experience designing, tuning, and optimizing antennas for Wi-Fi (802.11), Bluetooth, NFC, GNSS, cellular, or other wireless technologies
- Strong understanding of RF fundamentals including impedance matching, transmission lines, S-parameters, and antenna matching
- Experience performing antenna tuning, impedance matching, efficiency optimization, TRP/TIS characterization, and RF debugging
- Strong PCB layout knowledge for RF circuits, including stack-up, controlled impedance routing, grounding, shielding, and antenna keep-out design
- Collaborate with Firmware, SQA, and ODM's to ensure product performance metrics are achieved, and resolve customer/ production issues quickly
- Bachelor's Degree in Electronics Engineering
- 5 years of Industry experience with emphasis in circuit level RF design and WiFi, IoT, and LTE radio performance testing
- Knowledge & experience designing and integrating of 802.15 IoT radio circuits including Sub-GHz, Zigbee, Z-wave, Thread, etc
- 3 years of experience in the high volume, low-cost, consumer electronics industry with typical product development cycles of 6-12 months
- Experience in low level WiFi, IoT, and LTE RF circuit design, system integration, and testing
- Demonstrated knowledge, experience, and understanding of the 802.11 WiFi physical layer protocol behaviors & performance
- Design and validation of test cases supporting 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax/ah, etc
- Ability to analyze & resolve system integration issues including current consumption, desense, EMI/ spurious emissions, In-band noise, ESD, etc
- Ability to utilize common lab equipment including soldering stations and microscopes to perform detailed assembly & rework including SMT component replacement of components as small as 0201
Desired Qualifications
- Experience designing & integrating antennas into small consumer electronic devices for above radio technologies a plus
