Job Summary
Operate and monitor retort systems for thermal processing of food products, ensuring canned goods meet safety and quality standards under controlled conditions. Track multiple product lots, read scales and charts, and make sound decisions while working independently. Complete the Better Process Control class on canned foods and thermal processing, and maintain regular, reliable attendance. Perform physical tasks including lifting up to 50 lbs, stooping, bending, and kneeling while wearing gloves and hair nets. Requires strong decision-making skills, computer proficiency, and the ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and co-workers.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to work independently at times with little direction
- Strong and sound decision making skills
- Ability to track multiple lots of product
- Ability to read scales and charts
- Regular, reliable, predictable attendance
- Computer and calculator skills
- Need to be able to take and pass Better Process Control class on canned foods and thermal processing
- Ability to sit, stand and/or walk on uneven ground
- The employee may be required to stoop, bend, kneel, twist, and squat
- The vision requirements include: close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus
- Must be able to speak and hear well enough to communicate with co-workers, supervisors and managers
- Must be able to use hands for repetitive simple grasping, pushing, pulling and fine manipulation
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Must wear gloves and hair nets
