Job Summary
Operate loader machines and perform equipment changeovers in the retort work area while adhering to GMP, SQF, and OSHA safety protocols. Clean and sanitize the immediate workspace, perform operator-level adjustments, and assist with rework tasks including training temporary workers. Manage paperwork entries, operate forklifts and pallet jacks, and help load retort cages as needed. Complete supervisor-set goals and build a team environment within the production floor. This role supports Summer Garden Food Manufacturing's family-owned food production operations.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Frequent lifting of material up to and including 50 pounds
- Ability to push and pull materials up to 700 pounds
- Able to read and write English fluently
- Basic mathematic and reading
- Regularly required to talk, hear and see
- Frequently required to stand, walk and bend
- Manual dexterity with ability to reach with hands and arms
- Climbing ladders and stairs often
- Able to work in both hot/humid (in excess of 110 degrees F) and cold (below -20 degrees F) environments
- Able to bend and go under conveyers
- Ability to talk and hear
- Ability to stand, walk, climb stairs, stoop, bend, and/or crouch
- Push/pull
- Use of hands and fingers to operate machinery/equipment
- Ability to use close and distance vision, as well as color and peripheral vision with or without correction
- Must be able to visually detect obstacles and potential dangers in a fast-paced production environment involving high-speed equipment and powered industrial lift equipment
- Ability to hear in the normal audio range with or without correction
- Ability to wear a dust mask
- Perform Confined Entry using LOTO program
- Ability to squatting, kneeling, ability to reach above and at shoulder height
- Operate a forklift and Pallet Jack as required to move pallets around and off the lines
- Ability to work under pressure while multi-tasking
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in the food/beverage industry (if necessary)
- Previous experience in Manufacturing or production environment (if necessary)
