Job Summary
Lead the daily operations of a new supermarket store, managing opening and closing procedures, cash controls, and product availability while ensuring compliance with policies. Direct a team through shift leadership, training, and performance targets, collaborating with Retail Management to execute promotions and maintain store standards. Prepare weekly rotas based on budgets and cleaning schedules, utilizing office systems to generate reports and communicate changes. Work early mornings and late finishes with regular weekend shifts, adhering to health and safety protocols and equal opportunity policies.
Required Qualifications
- Educated to GCSE level or equivalent
- Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate
- Face-to-face customer service experience
- Intermediate computer skills (Email, Word, Excel)
- Full UK driving license
- Minimum 1-year experience in a team leader position or deputising in this role
- Knowledge of retail management best practices, including stock control and ordering
- Experience leading a shift, with excellent communication skills and the ability to foster a positive team culture
- Strong training skills and the ability to provide constructive feedback for consistent ways of working
- Experience working to targets, sharing them with team members, and a basic understanding of budgets
- Problem-solving abilities for day-to-day operational challenges
- Experience promoting a positive team mentality
- Flexibility to cover staff shortages and work according to rotas
- Good IT skills with intermediate-level experience in email, MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
- Work will involve early starts and late finishes to support the business
- Work will include regular weekend work
