Job Summary
Greet guests, ascertain their interests, and make sales recommendations while maintaining excellent accuracy with POS systems. Present merchandise to increase sales with add-on items, describe product features and benefits, and keep current on promotions, sales, and campus events. Maintain inventory, merchandise placement, and accurate counts, assisting with store set-up, cleaning, and fixture management. Open and close the retail store, manage associates on duty, and implement plan-o-grams as assigned. Work extended hours, weekends, and overtime as needed to support event days at the University of Michigan retail location.
Required Qualifications
- High school graduate, GED, or equivalent experience in comparable company
- Must be able to work weekends & overtime as needed
- Must be able to work nontraditional hours, included nights, holidays and weekends
- Able to lift 50lbs and stand for long periods of time
- Must be able to read & implement plan-o-grams
- Must be able to take constructive feedback & make necessary changes
- Honesty and integrity in all actions and language
- Excellent customer service and selling skills
- Innovative & self starter, who can work independently and as part of a team
Desired Qualifications
- Must be able to describe merchandise features, benefits, and explain use
- Keep current on promotions & sales in store: and events on the Michigan athletics campus and campus in general
- Continually increase knowledge of product, facility, and all events held at the store
- Merchandising skills a plus
