Job Summary
Retail Sales Associate at Canada’s National Ballet School (NBS) – support dancers, families, and students with footwear and dancewear fittings, process transactions using POS, restock and organize inventory, assist with pop-up events and on-site/off-site initiatives, and contribute to a welcoming, collaborative retail environment in The Shoe Room. Role emphasizes customer service, product knowledge in dancewear and ballet footwear, inventory management, and teamwork within an arts-focused community. Shift duties include cashier responsibilities, inventory counts, display upkeep, and providing a positive experience for clients in a creative, fast-paced setting.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 1 year retail or customer service experience
- Knowledge of dancewear, ballet footwear, and dancers’ fitting needs preferred; Prior ballet or dance training considered a strong asset
- Experience using POS and inventory systems preferred
- Comfortable handling cash and processing transactions accurately and efficiently
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a professional and approachable demeanor
- Ability to multitask, stay organized, and thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and customer-focused mindset
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office
- High proficiency in English required; additional languages considered an asset
