Job Summary
Proactively approach customers, engage in friendly conversations to understand their needs, and make helpful product recommendations. Maintain excellent store standards through merchandising, cleanliness, and stock replenishment while operating tills accurately and handling transactions. Support deliveries, organize the stockroom, and ensure product availability. When assigned as a Keyholder, open and close the store securely, complete cashing-up procedures, and take full responsibility for store operations when managers are absent. Follow all health, safety, and loss prevention protocols while working collaboratively to meet targets. This temporary 8-hour contract supports our mission to inspire reading, learning, creativity, and play.
Required Qualifications
- If you're aged 18 or over
- You're willing and able to proactively approach customers
- You're willing and able to start friendly conversations
- You're willing and able to understand what customers are looking for
- You're willing and able to make helpful recommendations from the product range
- You're able to work a variety of shifts
- You're comfortable learning to use tills
- You're able to handle transactions accurately
- You can stay organised
- You can contribute positively in a busy, fast-paced store environment
- You'll be trained as a Keyholder
- You'll be able to open and close the store safely and securely
- You'll be able to complete cashing-up and other end-of-day procedures accurately
- You'll be able to take responsibility for the smooth running of the store when a manager isn't present
- You'll be able to support colleagues and respond to customer or operational issues
- You'll follow store security, health and safety, and loss-prevention procedures
