Job Summary
Retail Operations Lead at PetSmart is responsible for driving operational excellence in stores, including merchandising and inventory management, pet care operations, opening/closing the store, overseeing associates, and maintaining a safe, organized environment. Essential duties include training and coaching sales associates, delegating daily tasks, leading when on duty, addressing associate concerns, executing merchandise strategies, conducting inventory counts and audits, managing POS cash handling, ensuring store standards and adherence to policies, coordinating promotions, and ensuring a positive experience for pets and their parents. The role requires 2+ years of retail supervisory experience, full-time availability (including evenings, weekends, and holidays), proficiency with computer applications, strong communication, and the ability to work under pressure with attention to detail; physical duties include standing, lifting up to 50 pounds regularly and more than 100 pounds occasionally, and working around live animals.
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years of retail supervisory experience in a customer-focused environment
- Full-time availability required, flexibility in schedule, able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
- Proficiency in computer applications
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to react under pressure and maintain composure
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Supervisory responsibility — guiding and supporting other associates when needed
