Job Summary
Supervise all retail showroom activities including personnel, inventory, and equipment to ensure excellent customer experiences and maximize sales. Manage receiving, stocking, and merchandising of products while overseeing price changes, margins, and marketing initiatives. Lead by example in providing exceptional customer service, train and motivate store employees, and resolve complaints immediately. Assist the General Manager with back office functions, labor hours, payroll scheduling, and team training. Ensure accurate inventory recording, detect shrinkage, and maintain a safe, secure environment with proper equipment and security measures. Perform physical duties such as lifting up to 100 pounds, operating forklifts, and managing contractor salesmen to prospect for new sales. Work a flexible schedule of 50+ hours per week including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's Degree preferred but not required; or 3 to 5 years of management or supervisory experience in the building material industry or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Must demonstrate excellent leadership and problem solving skills
- Must be able to manage with limited supervision
- Must have excellent communication and organizational skills
- Must be detail oriented
- Must be able to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule (typical retail schedule - 50+ hours/week) including weekends, evenings, and holidays
- Must have mathematical and general business skills sufficient to understand and interpret data presented in statistical or numerical form
- Must be able to use data effectively in assessing and coordinating the merchandise and operations aspects of store operations
- Must have strong working knowledge of retail building materials, home improvement and hardware products
- Must have general retail operations knowledge
- Must have the ability to utilize Point-of-sales and other computer related systems (i.e., Estimating Software, etc.) associated with the building material industry
- Must possess demonstrated ability to manage physical assets
- Must be able to perform physical work
- Must be able to bend, reach with hands and arms
- Must be able to climb or balance
- Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch
- Must be able to frequently lift and/or move between 50 - 100 pounds
- Must possess an acceptable driving record
- Must possess a valid state issued driver's license (Missouri locations require a Class E license)
- Must agree to pre-employment drug testing
- Must agree to pre-employment background check
- Must agree to driver history checks
