Job Summary
Oversee the firearms department by supervising compliance with ATF, state, and federal laws, including 4473 and 3310 forms. Manage merchandise presentation, inventory control, pricing, and sales enhancements while executing financial plans. Open and close the store, obtain Manager on Duty responsibilities, and lead firearm safe handling, safety, and operations standards. Staff the department by interviewing, selecting, and training associates; prepare performance appraisals, approve increases, and coordinate weekly schedules. Resolve customer and associate issues, conduct investigations when necessary, and promote programs such as CLUB Membership and in-store pick-up. Ensure all firearms operations are completed timely and in accordance with company policies.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Minimum of 3-5 years in Retail Management
- firearms safe handling practices
- skilled in the accurate ID of firearms and ammunition
- classification of firearms and ammunition
- mechanical operation of firearms
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, commissions, and percentages
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
- Ability to interpret a variety of other financial, legal, and technical information
- Ability to read and analyze certain reports
- Ability to write reports and business correspondence
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from Managers, associates, customers, and the public
- Ability to conduct meetings and presentations to groups
- Proficiency with PC-based word processing, spreadsheets, data-based management and electronic point of sale and inventory management systems
- Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, associates, customers and with the Corporate Staff
- Demonstrated use of Team concept of Management
- Regularly walks, stands, and does computer work
- Occasionally sits
- Seldom/Never lifts up to 50 lbs
- Light work that includes constantly lifting and moving objects up to 20 pounds, occasionally
- Occasionally, ascend or descend ladders, stairs, step stools, etc.
