Job Summary
Retail Manager - Firearms directs the firearms department, ensuring ATF/state/federal compliance, ammunition/firearms handling standards, and customer-service excellence. Responsibilities include merchandise presentation, inventory control, pricing, executing sales plans to meet financial goals, staff recruitment and development, coaching, scheduling, and resolving customer and associate issues. The role leads firearm compliance coaching, oversees safe handling and operations within the firearms department, coordinates with the Gun Vault Specialist Team, and drives a high-quality in-store customer experience through product recommendations, loyalty programs (e.g., CLUB Membership), and in-store pickup initiatives. Requires high school diploma or equivalent and 3-5 years in retail management with firearms-specific experience; strong financial literacy, leadership, and interpersonal skills; proficiency with POS/inventory systems and reporting.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 3-5 years in Retail Management that includes firearms safe handling practices
- Skilled in the accurate ID of firearms and ammunition, as well as their classification and mechanical operation
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts (discounts, commissions, and percentages)
- Ability to interpret financial, legal, and technical information
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to lead a team
- Experience with interviewing, coaching, scheduling, and performance evaluations
- Proficiency with PC-based word processing, spreadsheets, data-based management and POS/inventory systems
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers, managers, associates, and corporate staff
