Job Summary
Operate the point-of-sale system at the front counter while managing cash-handling, bagging merchandise, and receiving shipments. Welcome customers during entry and exit, answer phone inquiries, and direct sales associates via the PA system. Recommend products and suggest add-ons to enhance the shopping experience while maintaining a clean, organized, and fully stocked sales floor. Perform additional duties as assigned by management. This role supports Big 5 Sporting Goods' mission to serve sports-minded individuals across 400 western U.S. stores, offering flexible scheduling and employee merchandise discounts.
Required Qualifications
- 18 years of age or older
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Basic organizational and/or applicable math skills
- Detail-oriented and reliable
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Must be subject to E-Verify upon accepting a position offered
- Light to moderate lifting may be required
Desired Qualifications
- Basic knowledge of sporting goods is a plus
