Job Summary
The Assistant Team Leader at Ollie’s oversees front-end operations and leads a retail sales team to deliver a positive customer experience. Responsibilities include assisting the Store Team Leader with payroll budgets and related reporting, maintaining store standards and compliance (Redbook and company programs), front-end and exterior maintenance, task delegation, office organization, supporting merchandising initiatives, performing Operational Risk Assessments and safety actions, leading safety meetings, handling price changes, coaching and developing Associates, recruiting and onboarding staff, and performing Team Leader functions to open/close the store when needed. The role emphasizes employee development, customer service excellence, donation programs (Ollie’s Army), and maintaining hiring pipelines to meet staffing needs. Qualifications emphasize a high school diploma or equivalent, supervisory retail experience, flexible availability (evenings/weekends/holidays), strong English communication, professionalism, judgment, confidentiality, organization, attention to detail, industry knowledge, and strong interpersonal skills.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum of 1-2 years retail experience in a supervisory role within a mid-size to large retail or service-oriented business
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays on a regular basis
- Ability to read, write and speak English
- Ability to effectively manage in a professional work environment
- Ability to exercise sound judgment
- Ability to preserve confidentiality of information
- Accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to organize and prioritize a variety of tasks and activities and work within strict timeframes and deadlines
