Job Summary
Manage the daily activity of the sales floor, backroom, and cash register area according to company policy. Support the Store Manager with all aspects of retail operations, including sales, customer service, human resources, training, visual merchandising, and loss prevention. Ensure each customer receives the highest level of service while scheduling staff efficiently and controlling the payroll budget. Conduct regular spot checks on inventory, maintain accurate cash drawer reconciliations, and follow corrective action procedures fairly. This role requires strong managerial and communication skills along with excellent product knowledge. The Assistant Store Manager must understand upcoming promotions, discount policies, and progressive discipline procedures while ensuring displays remain clean and current.
Required Qualifications
- High school or equivalent
- One or more years of Store management experience in a retail environment
- Ability to work varied days/hours
- Ability to climb ladders
- Ability to occasionally push, pull and lift more than 25 lbs.
- Strong managerial skills
- Strong selling and communication skills
- Excellent product knowledge
- Strong knowledge of company history, corporate structure, and target market
- Knowledge of the competition and their prices
- Strong knowledge of POS systems
