Job Summary
Initiate rehabilitation and restorative nursing interventions for residents discharged from therapy, newly admitted, or developing restorative needs during custodial stays. Perform range of motion exercises, splint and brace assistance, and training in bed mobility, transfers, walking, dressing, grooming, eating, and swallowing. Provide proper positioning, instruct residents on self-care and assistive device use, and assist with prosthetic care and retraining for swallowing techniques. Document objective care information and report observations to the nursing supervisor while participating in ongoing care reviews and staff education needs identification. Ensure punctuality and regular attendance for assigned shifts.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid certification as a CNA in the state of employment
- Ability to communicate effectively with residents, their family members, and facility staff
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Knowledge or current rehabilitative techniques
- Six months experience in a long-term care environment
Desired Qualifications
- CPR certification
- Restorative Assistant certification
- Six months experience in a long-term care environment
