Restorative Justice Liaison

Job Summary

Facilitate safe dialogue between clients and wronged parties while delivering culturally specific Restorative Justice programming within the City of Ottawa. Manage case files, coordinate intake and conferencing sessions, and report case status to courts and referral sources. Develop program evaluation frameworks, distribute stakeholder questionnaires, and organize training workshops for the Restorative Justice Committee and facilitators. Network with justice system partners, attend Indigenous People's Court Sub-Committee meetings, and promote the strategy through various media channels. Work evenings and weekends as required, with frequent travel within Ottawa and occasional out-of-town trips.

Required Qualifications

  • Completion of diploma or degree in Criminology, Social Sciences, Social Work
  • Knowledge of Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit of the 8 Guiding Principles and traditional practices
  • Detailed knowledge of restorative justice models and the criminal justice system
  • Familiarity with Urban Inuit legal issues and the Inuit socio-economic landscape
  • Familiar with Inuit history and the impacts of colonization
  • Knowledge of internal and external services for Inuit in Ottawa
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication skills, case and file management skills, time management skills, relationship‐building skills
  • Excellent group and one‐on‐one interview skills
  • Organizational skills and resourcefulness
  • Proficient use of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, video-conferencing platforms
  • Ability to organize and deliver training to those involved in community justice
  • Valid Driver's license and own reliable vehicle
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends as required
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary and multicultural team environment
  • Fluency in English
  • Frequent travel within the city
  • Occasional travel out of town

Desired Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years' experience dealing with similar clientele, the justice system and community partners
  • Fluency in Inuktitut
