• •Attends in-service programs, as assigned, to learn procedures and develop skills and meet state requirements

• •Capable of charting accurately in the Patient Care Record or other similar form

• •Ability to understand and practice universal precautions with all patient care
• •Ability to perform all tasks/procedures included on assignment or report to nurse any tasks not completed
• •Ability to assist in the preparation for admission of patients
• •Ability to assist in and accompany patients in admission, transfer and discharge procedures
• •Ability to provide post-mortem care
• •Ability to provide morning care, which may include bed bath, oral hygiene, combing hair, back care, dressing patients, changing bed linen, cleaning overbed table and bedside stand, straightening room and other general care as necessary throughout the day
• •Ability to provide evening care, which included hand/face washing as needed, oral hygiene, special skin care, freshening linen, cleaning overbed tables, straightening room, and other general care as needed
• •Ability to provide general nursing care such as positioning patients; lifting and turning patients; applying/utilizing special equipment; assisting in use of bedpan, urinal or commode and ambulating the patient using a gait belt
• •Ability to take and record temperature, pulse, respiration, weight, height, blood pressure and intake and output measurements
• •Ability to adhere to policies and procedures of the Center and the Department of Nursing
• •Ability to participate in socialization activities on the unit and assist patients to activities
• •Ability to turn and position as ordered and/or as needed, making sure no rough surfaces are in direct contact with the body
• •Ability to lift and turn with proper and safe mechanics and with available resources
• •Ability to check for reddened areas or skin breakdown and report to an RN or LPN
• •Ability to ensure that patients are dressed properly and assist as necessary
• •Ability to ensure that clothing is properly stored in dressers or on hangers
• •Ability to ensure that all patients are clean and dry at all times
• •Ability to check unit for adequate linen and supplies
• •Ability to restrain patients properly when ordered
• •Ability to understand reason for restraint and suggest less restrictive measures if possible
• •Ability to accompany patients to appointments as directed
• •Ability to provide reality orientation in daily care
• •Ability to prepare patients for meals and services, remove food trays and assist with meals or feed patients
• •Ability to distribute drinking water and other nourishments to patients
• •Ability to perform general care activities for patients in isolation, adhering to the Center's Infection Control Policies
• •Ability to answer patients' call lights, anticipate patients' needs, and make rounds to assigned patients
• •Ability to assist patients with handling and care of clothing and other personal property (including dentures, glasses, contact lenses, hearing aids and prosthetic devices)
• •Ability to collect and transport specimens as directed
• •Ability to report (and record when appropriate) any changes observed in condition or behavior of patients and any unusual incidents
• •Ability to be familiar with Nursing Care Plans and contribute when new information available
• •Ability to assist in maintaining a safe and clean environment
• •Ability to report equipment that is out of order
• •Ability to report other problems to the charge nurse
• •Ability to maintain appropriate handling of clean and soiled linen and store supplies on the unit
• •Ability to practice careful, efficient and non-wasteful use of supplies and linen and follow established charge procedures for patient charge items
• •Ability to meet performance requirements
