Job Summary
Restoration Technician sought to assist wildlife refuge staff with habitat restoration activities at Moapa Valley NWR. Responsibilities include planting, watering, weeding, and survival monitoring; implementing IPM to treat invasive species in riparian habitats using mechanical removal; setting and monitoring traps for invasive fish; assisting with installation of signs and barriers to protect sensitive habitats; completing activity reports; and supporting related refuge tasks such as bird banding, fish surveys, or macroinvertebrate surveys. Timeline runs July 6–September 11, 2026 (10 weeks), full-time schedule typically Tuesday–Friday, 10 hours/day. Compensation is $17.75 per hour, with housing provided onsite; benefits include medical, dental, vision insurance, life insurance, and employee housing. Public Land Corps Hiring Authority may apply; must be US citizen and meet age requirements. Location is Moapa Valley NWR, near Moapa, NV (roughly 60 miles north of Las Vegas). This is a temporary, field-based role requiring outdoor work, physical endurance, and the ability to work cooperatively within a team.
Required Qualifications
- Familiarity with ecology of aquatic desert habitat
- valid state-issued driver’s license
- ability to drive a 4WD vehicle on unimproved roads
