Job Summary
Greet and take food and drink orders from restaurant customers, serving the orders while accommodating special needs and requests. Remain attentive throughout the dining experience, adhering to service standards, and complete all restocking and cleaning duties including opening and closing side-work. Memorize menu items, recipes, and daily specials to answer questions and make recommendations. Maintain cleanliness standards in the restaurant, wait-station, and kitchen service area to satisfy state and local health board requirements. Control allocated guest checks by following established procedures and documenting information legibly. Receive proper payment from guests, ensuring accuracy of checks and payment methods. Attend pre-meal and departmental meetings to enhance communications and gain product knowledge. Respond to customer inquiries in person and on the phone with timely, knowledgeable information. Present a clean, professional appearance and maintain a friendly, cheerful demeanor while using tact in stressful situations. Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Required Qualifications
- High school education or equivalent experience
- Three - six months in a food/beverage services environment or establishment
- Must have vision ability to clearly see detailed guest checks, computer print outs, written instructions and to observe entire restaurant in dimly lit conditions
- Must have manual coordination to punch buttons, grasp items in hand, and to balance and carry trays loaded with food and beverages
- Able to read, speak and understand English
- Able to lift, push, carry 20 - 40 lbs
- Stand continuously for long periods of time
- Communicate information and hotel services to management, staff and guests
