Job Summary
RESS Battery Manufacturing Engineer – onsite role at General Motors focusing on development and implementation of robust manufacturing processes for Rechargeable Energy Storage System batteries. Responsibilities include supporting production lines, applying GMS principles, conducting PFMEA, improving process flows, ensuring manufacturability of battery designs, adhering to Lockout Tagout and safety protocols, root-cause analysis, supporting product launches, and driving continuous improvement to achieve world-class quality and cost objectives. Requires a Bachelor's in Engineering, manufacturing-engineering experience (auto/battery), GMS familiarity, PFMEA expertise, GD&T knowledge, and strong problem-solving/communication skills. Preferred Six Sigma Black Belt, Lean experience, Autocad, and familiarity with vision and torque systems. Onsite in Detroit, may offer relocation benefits, sponsorship not provided.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or related field) is required
- Proven experience in a manufacturing engineering role, preferably within the automotive or battery industry
- Proficiency in General Motors Manufacturing System (GMS) methodologies
- In-depth knowledge of Lockout Tagout procedures and other industrial safety standards
- Demonstrated expertise in Process Engineering, including process development, optimization, and control
- Understanding of GD&T and Part Print requirements
- Skilled in conducting Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis (PFMEA)
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Proficiency in Dispense Systems is a plus
- Proficiency in Vision Systems is a plus
- Proficiency in Electric Torque Rundown Systems is a plus
- Six Sigma Black Belt and experience with Lean Methodology practices
- Strong Mechanical ability with Autocad experience
- Ability to troubleshoot using vision system software
- Experience working with Skilled Trades and production teams
