Job Summary
Provide intermittent, regular scheduled, temporary care and supervision for a client residing with a family member or care provider. Assist with feeding, dressing, toileting, grooming, and light meal preparation while following specific instructions from parents or guardians. Work a minimum of two hours per appointment, adhering to safety precautions and never leaving clients unattended. Complete daily notes, time cards, and reports using UCPIE case management software, and submit emergency call forms to the administrative office. Maintain CPR and First Aid certification on file and continue education through in-house training modules. Operate an automobile to travel to client homes within the Inland Empire, reporting any changes in personal information or suspected incidents of abuse immediately to the Respite Program Manager.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma, GED certificate
- 2 years' experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities (experience can be caring for a family member with a disability)
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Computer proficient
- CPR & First Aid Certification
- Clean TB test every 3 years
- Valid Driver's License
- Valid vehicle registration
- Valid vehicle insurance
- Clear security clearance (fingerprint live scan) through the FBI and DOJ
- Legally eligible to work in the U.S.A.
- Must be able to lift, pull, push, run, and manipulate/use adaptive equipment and patients
- Must be able to perform CPR and administer First-Aid
- Must be able to operate an automobile and a computer
- Must be able to climb stairs and provide services in the family's home environment
- Must be able to work a minimum of two hours at each respite appointment
- Must never leave a client(s)/ consumer(s)/ siblings unattended
- Must maintain certification of CPR and First Aid at all times
- Must adhere to policies and procedures in the employee handbook and respite fundamental training manual
- Must adhere to UCPIE's Injury and Illness Prevention Plan and all other applicable safety procedures
- Must report suspected incidents of abuse to the Respite Program Manager & complete the required documentation
- Must return phone calls to the UCPIE administrative team within 24 hours or immediately if an emergency message is received
- Must not transport client(s) or siblings at any time
- Must continue education through training modules, workshops, annual UCPIE in-house training, etc.
- Must be able to drive to the client's home daily (travel will not exceed 40 miles unless approved)
