Job Summary
Provide intermittent, regular scheduled, temporary care and supervision for individuals with developmental disabilities residing with family members or care providers. Assist clients with feeding, dressing, toileting, grooming, and light meal preparation while following specific instructions from parents or guardians. Maintain client safety by never leaving them unattended, using safety precautions at all times, and reporting suspected incidents of abuse immediately. Complete daily notes, time cards, and emergency call forms using UCPIE software, and return administrative phone calls within 24 hours. Maintain current CPR and First Aid certification, continue education through training modules, and adhere to all injury prevention plans and employee handbook policies.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma, GED certificate
- 2 years' experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities (experience can be caring for a family member with a disability)
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Computer proficient
- CPR & First Aid Certification
- Clean TB test every 3 years
- Valid Driver's License
- Valid vehicle registration
- Valid vehicle insurance
- Clear security clearance (fingerprint live scan) through the FBI and DOJ
- Legally eligible to work in the U.S.A.
- Must be able to lift, pull, push, run, and manipulate/use adaptive equipment and patients, which requires strength and gross motor and fine motor coordination
- Must be able to perform CPR and administer First-Aid
- Must be able to operate an automobile and a computer
- Must be able to climb stairs and provide services in the family's home environment
- Must have the ability to sit and/or stand for long periods of time (2 to 8 hours per shift)
- Must be able to work a minimum of two hours at each respite appointment
- Must never leave a client(s)/ consumer(s)/ siblings unattended
- Must adhere to policies and procedures in the employee handbook and respite fundamental training manual
- Must adhere to UCPIE's Injury and Illness Prevention Plan and all other applicable safety procedures
- Must report suspected incidents of abuse to the Respite Program Manager & complete the required documentation
- Must report any changes in personal information to the respite program manager immediately
- Must complete and submit time cards, mileage, reports, etc., using UCPIE timekeeping and case management software
- Must complete client daily notes and submit to UCPIE administrative offices as instructed by the respite program manager
- Must maintain current information on emergency call forms and submit copy to UCPIE office
- Must return phone calls to the UCPIE administrative team within 24 hours or immediately if an emergency message is received
- Must continue education through training modules, workshops, annual UCPIE in-house training, etc.
- Must be able to drive to the client's home daily (travel will not exceed 40 miles unless approved by the Respite Program Manager)
