Job Summary
Facilitate fun, dynamic activities including movement, sports, and games to support social, emotional, and motor skill development for individuals with complex developmental disabilities. Provide personalized support, assist with daily hygiene and mobility, and administer medications as required. Plan and join outings to enhance real-world experiences while advocating for client voices and goals. Ensure safety through First Aid administration and de-escalation techniques during challenging behaviors. This role requires a valid Alberta driver's license and vehicle for client transport, with flexible shifts available Monday through Sunday. Compensation is $17.50 per hour for a part-time permanent position.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Alberta driver's license
- Reliable vehicle with current Alberta registration
- Alberta insurance
- At least 1-3 years of direct experience working with individuals with complex developmental disabilities
- Demonstrated ability to support individuals in achieving personal goals and responding to behavioral needs
- Skilled in de-escalation techniques and managing challenging behaviors
- Strong verbal/non-verbal communication skills to interact with children using alternative communication methods (e.g., PECS, AAC)
- Valid Alberta Class 5 driver's license
- Personal vehicle with current Alberta registration
- $2 million in third-party liability insurance
- Proof of identity and legal authorization to work in Canada
- Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector
- Child & Youth Intervention Record Check
- Intermediate First Aid / CPR Level C Certification
Desired Qualifications
- Related degree or training in disabilities, sensory processing, and/or developmental assessments
- Current First Aid and CPR certification (including pediatric care)
