Job Summary
Respite Care Provider in Newark, NJ delivers temporary care and companionship to clients with physical, emotional, or cognitive needs. Responsibilities include assisting with daily living activities, administering prescribed medications and monitoring vital signs under supervision, assessing client condition and reporting changes, facilitating appropriate professional intervention, engaging clients in activities (socializing, games, reading aloud), helping with mobility, personal hygiene, eating and drinking, accompanying clients to medical appointments and outings, and performing light housekeeping (cleaning, cooking, shopping) while maintaining a hygienic and safe environment.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Possession of a valid driver’s license and abstract (not to exceed 5 points) if driving is required
- Certified home health aide (CHHA) preferred
- State-approved training, CPR and first aid certification
- A minimum of 2 years' experience as a respite care provider preferred
