Job Summary

Conduct clinical assessments of the pulmonary system and administer respiratory therapeutic interventions including oxygen therapy, aerosols, and airway clearance with minimal supervision. Establish and manage mechanical ventilation for both invasive and non-invasive patients, perform associated critical care duties, and oversee ventilator weaning while communicating findings to the care team. Accurately document all data and charges in medical records, perform EKGs, and collect blood specimens including arterial blood gases per departmental policies. Provide patient and family education on respiratory conditions and equipment use, while maintaining current knowledge of oxygen delivery methods and adhering to relevant protocols. Work cooperatively with the healthcare team, attend at least 50% of staff meetings, and escalate concerns as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1-2 years of clinical experience preferably in acute care / critical care settings
  • experience with ventilators is essential
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-stress environment
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Able to work independently overnight, problem-solve, make decisions, and communicate clearly
  • Clear Communication Skills Both Written and Verbal
  • Able to Keep Confidential Information Regarding Patients, Team Members
  • Able to Withstand Crisis Situations
  • Has Skills to Provides Customer Service to Patients, Team Members and Visitors
  • Knowledge And Experience with Electronic Health Records
  • BLS – Basic Life Saving Certification
  • Valid state license to practice as Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) RCPLIC - Respiratory Care Practitioner State License
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential required (or equivalent registry pass)
  • ACLS, NRP, PALS required within 6 months of hire
  • Associate or bachelor's degree in respiratory therapy (or equivalent)
