Job Summary
Respiratory Therapy extern role at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital under supervision of a licensed respiratory therapist. Performs routine respiratory therapy procedures (oxygen therapy, pulse oximetry, aerosol therapy, incentive spirometry), maintains and sterilizes equipment, follows infection prevention guidelines, and assists with patient positioning and transport. Must demonstrate growth and development knowledge to provide age-appropriate care and participate in hospital competencies while adhering to department policies. Must be currently enrolled in an accredited Respiratory Therapy program with BLS certification; no prior experience required.
Required Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in an accredited or approved program in Respiratory Therapy.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA).
- Education: Currently enrolled in an accredited or approved program in Respiratory Therapy.
- Experience: No experience required.
