RESPIRATORY THERAPY ASSISTANT

Receives work assignments and instructions from respiratory therapy staff to aid in patient care and equipment management. Cleans, disinfects, and sterilizes non-disposable respiratory equipment, preparing it for next use while reporting worn parts or loose connections. Assists with setup of equipment, supplies, and medical gases; turns on devices and monitors gauges for pressure, flow, and continuity, immediately reporting malfunctions or marking equipment as out of service. Gathers and delivers supplies to specified hospital locations, orders, stocks, and inventories the respiratory care supply room, ensuring floors remain clean and reporting shortages. Supports patient discharge and performs other assigned duties. Must enroll in a Respiratory Therapy program within three months of employment and hold CPR-BLS certification.
