Job Summary

Perform therapeutic, diagnostic, and emergency respiratory care procedures for patients with respiratory insufficiencies. Conduct patient assessments, treatment, and evaluation based on physician orders while maintaining sound clinical judgment. Provide attentive monitoring and effective communication to patients, families, and healthcare providers. Adhere to all local, state, and federal regulations to ensure privacy and safety. May orient other staff to the department as needed. Work nights with a variable schedule of 12 days per week, including every other weekend. Requires two years of recent relevant experience and specific certifications such as BLS, ACLS, and PALS depending on the department.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate of a two-year respiratory care program accredited by the Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC)
  • RCP-Respiratory Care Practitioner OR RRT-Registered Respiratory Therapist OR CRT-Certified Respiratory Therapist
  • BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider
  • 2 years of recent relevant experience
  • Knowledge of respiratory therapy principles, procedures, views, and equipment
  • Experience responding to traumas and various hospital emergencies
  • Ability to interpret a variety of data and instructions, furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Capable of performing routine or emergency respiratory care
  • Basic understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology
  • Possess written and verbal communications skills to explain sensitive information clearly and professionally to diverse audiences, including non-medical people
  • Well-developed time management and organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize assignments and work within standardized operating procedures and scientific methods to achieve objectives and meet deadline
  • General knowledge of computer applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and Outlook), electronic health records (EHR), and EPIC
  • Ability to work independently, as well as be part of the team, including accomplishing multiple tasks in an environment with interruptions
  • Ability to identify, evaluate and resolve standard problems by selecting appropriate solutions from established options
  • Ability to ensure the privacy of each patient's protected health information (PHI)
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships with peers and other healthcare providers to achieve departmental and corporate objectives
  • Ability to function effectively and perform this position in an emergency situation
  • NRP-Neonatal Resuscitation Provider if required at the entity
  • ACLS-Advanced Cardiac Life Support if required by entity
  • PALS-Pediatric Advanced Life Support if required by entity
  • AUTO-Automobile Insurance
  • DL-Valid Drivers License - State Department of Motor Vehicles
