Job Summary
Supervise Respiratory Therapists and EKG Technicians by managing schedules, coordinating activities, and serving as a resource to both staff and medical personnel. Conduct chart audits for quality review, ensure medication administration and security, and maintain Blood Gas Analyzers and departmental equipment. Provide direct patient care while adapting communication styles to specific age groups, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local laws. Work three 12-hour day shifts at Jefferson Hwy, handling heavy physical demands and exposure to blood or hazardous medications as required.
Required Qualifications
- Must either be a graduate of an Accredited Respiratory Care Program or grandfathered in by the state of practice
- 2 years' experience as technician or therapist in general adult care to adequately and effectively counsel subordinates
- Current License as a Respiratory Therapist in the state of practice
- Certification by the National Board of Respiratory Care as a Certified Respiratory Therapist or Registered Respiratory Therapist
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification from the American Heart Association
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) from the American Heart Association
- Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of patient information
- Must be proficient with Windows-style applications and keyboard
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process
- Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily
- Very Heavy Work - Exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects
- Duties performed routinely require exposure to blood, body fluid and tissue
- There may be an occupational risk for exposure to communicable diseases
- There may be an occupational risk for exposure to hazardous medications or hazardous waste within the environment
Desired Qualifications
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) from the American Heart Association
