Respiratory Therapist - St. Bernard Parish Hospital - PRN

Respiratory Therapist - PRN position responsible for providing respiratory care treatments, oxygen services, diagnostic testing, and ventilation support to inpatient and outpatient populations from neonatal to geriatric. Performs RT-CRT setup, monitoring, weaning of oxygen therapy and artificial ventilation, draws/analyzes/reports arterial blood gases and EKGs, delivers intermittent therapy, and assists with airway management as ordered by a physician. Responsibilities include documenting clinical information, educating patients and co-workers on procedures and treatment plans, performing diagnostic procedures, and ensuring compliance with policies and regulatory standards. Requires an Associate's Degree (Bachelor's preferred), active respiratory therapy license in the practice state, NBRC RRT credential, BLS, and ACLS within 90 days of hire. Must have computer/data-entry skills, effective communication, proficiency with Windows-based applications, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to adapt care to diverse patient populations; role may involve very heavy physical demands and 24/7 availability as part of a flexible schedule.
