Job Summary
Respiratory Therapist (RT) position at Aurora Medical Center West Allis with primary day-shift responsibilities and an additional 0.9 FTE allocation across two facilities. Responsibilities include applying respiratory therapy processes to assess patients using pulmonary diagnostics, chest radiographs, hemodynamic values, laboratory values, and blood gas/electrolyte analysis; operating ventilators in critical and non-critical care; assisting physicians with bedside procedures; delivering prescribed medication therapies; maintaining and troubleshooting equipment; educating patients on therapy purpose, techniques, self-care, and disease management; collaborating with other departments, ensuring safety, and providing accurate patient handoffs. Requires RCP license, NBRC credential (RRT or CRT as applicable), and BLS; associate degree in respiratory care; willingness to work in a hospital setting with 0.9 FTE and holidays/weekend obligations.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate from an accredited respiratory care program, with a minimum of an associate degree
- Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required: Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license issued by the state in which the team member practices
- Active NBRC credential: either Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) as specified (RRT within 12 months OR CRT credential issued prior to Jan 1, 2023)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: effective organizational, interpersonal and problem-solving skills; proficient computer skills; strong communication; teamwork; multi-tasking; age-specific patient assessment
