Job Summary
Administer mechanical ventilation, pharmacological, and therapeutic agents for respiratory care procedures, disease prevention, and pulmonary rehabilitation. Transcribe and implement physician orders while assessing, observing, and monitoring patient responses to treatments and diagnostic testing. Recommend and implement appropriate respiratory care protocols based on observed abnormalities and adjust treatment per physician directives. Requires current Alabama Respiratory Therapy License, BLS, ACLS, and upcoming PALS/NRP certification.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Graduate of an Accredited Respiratory Therapy Program with a Diploma or AAS Degree in Respiratory Therapy
- Current Alabama Respiratory Therapy License issued by the Alabama State Board for Respiratory Care
- Registered with the National Board for Respiratory Care, if credentialed after 2005
- Current BLS and ACLS certification
- PALS and NRP certification within 90 days of hospital wide orientation if not already current
