Job Summary
Conduct respiratory therapeutic and diagnostic care for patients in critical, general, and emergency care areas. Perform electrocardiograms, blood gas analysis, and airway management while documenting assessments with 90% or greater accuracy and timeliness. Formulate respiratory plans of care based on protocols, involving physicians, families, and patients to progress toward expected outcomes. Function as shift charge person, student proctor, and mentor, while maintaining department supplies and equipment. Demonstrate competence in emergency codes including Code One, Code Red, and Trauma Alert. Requires current NBRC certification and Alabama licensure with one to two years of clinical experience.
Required Qualifications
- Current NBRC and Alabama State Board of Respiratory Therapy Licensure
- Must Produce diploma from highest level of education
- BLS certification
- ACLS certification
- One to two years clinical experience
- Ability to function in critical care including mechanical ventilation and patient assessment
- Must be a certified Respiratory Therapist by the National Board for Respiratory Care within 90 days of hire
- Current Alabama Respiratory Therapist license
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment
- Ability to prioritize and change tasks frequently and quickly
- Ability to assess patients
- Ability to perform therapy
- Ability to recommend procedures in all areas of EKG, Bronchial Hygiene, Bronchodilator Therapy, Pulmonary Volume Expansion, Oxygen Therapy, and Invasive and Noninvasive Ventilation
