Job Summary
Manage patient care in hospital intensive care, non-critical care areas, and the emergency room by determining therapy appropriateness, communicating with physicians and nurses, and making decisions in emergency situations. Provide airway care including intubation, tracheostomy maintenance, and reversal of bronchial narrowing, while applying and troubleshooting respiratory therapy equipment. Deliver verbal and written education to patients, draw blood samples for analysis, and document critical values per policy. Serve neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations across various care settings. Requires an accredited Respiratory Therapy degree, current New York State license, and certifications in BLS, ACLS, and PALS.
Required Qualifications
- Associate / Bachelor of Applied Science in Respiratory Therapy from a Respiratory Therapy education program accredited by CoARC
- Basic Life Support Certification
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support Certification
- New York State Respiratory Therapist License
- NBRC
- Basic computer skills
