Job Summary
Evaluate, treat, and provide care for residents with breathing disorders under the direction of the Unit Manager. Set up and operate respiratory care equipment, including mechanical ventilators, IPPB machines, and aerosol generators, to administer prescribed medications and oxygen concentrations. Perform arterial punctures, operate blood gas analyzers, and monitor physiological responses such as vital signs and acid-base balance. Conduct chest physical therapy treatments involving percussion, postural drainage, and suctioning to mobilize secretions. Perform pulmonary function studies to determine air volume and distribution. Requires a current California Respiratory License and 2-4 years of direct care experience.
Required Qualifications
- Must have current, unencumbered California Respiratory License credentialed by the NBRC
- Must have current Basic Life Support certification
Desired Qualifications
- 2-4 years' experience providing direct Respiratory Therapy care to multiple patients/residents preferred
- previous experience in acute care respiratory unit or Skilled Nursing environment desirable
- Graduation from approved Respiratory Therapy program preferred
