Job Summary
Treat patients in accordance with physician orders and departmental policy across acute and critical care settings. Initiate, monitor, and manage invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation while managing all airways and associated equipment. Obtain blood gases from all sites, analyze results accurately, and document all respiratory care procedures and tasks. Provide patient and family education, communicate with the healthcare team including students and nurse shadows, and adhere to infection control and quality initiatives by disinfecting equipment between patients. Requires an associate degree from an accredited Respiratory Care Program, a Temporary license, and full RRT certification within six months.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree
- Graduate of a Respiratory Care Program by an accredited school
- Diploma and/or equivalent experience (in lieu of education and experience)
- Respiratory Care Practitioner - Temporary license in state in which work is performed
- Full Respiratory Therapist Certification including Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) from NBRC
- BLS
- NRP, PALS, ACLS, NPS certifications
