Job Summary
Conduct a wide range of prescribed therapeutic and diagnostic respiratory care procedures for adult, pediatric, and newborn patients in routine critical care areas. Systematically gather patient data, develop care plans, and assess learning needs while coordinating with healthcare providers. Administer respiratory therapy treatments, oxygen therapy, and medications per physician orders, including obtaining ABGs, performing pulse oximetry, and conducting pulmonary function tests following ATS Standards. Set up and assess mechanical ventilators, BIPAP, and CPAP units, and assist with flexible fiberoptic bronchoscopy. Provide patient education on cardiopulmonary medications and equipment, implement VAP bundle protocols, and document all care implementation and outcomes. Work 12-hour shifts covering days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of a CoARC approved Respiratory Therapy program
- Credentialed as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (R.R.T.) by the National Board for Respiratory Care (or eligible)
- Prior experience required
- Licensed as a Respiratory Therapist by the State of Massachusetts
- ACLS required or obtained within 6 months of hire
- NRP required or obtained within 6 months of hire
- PALS required or obtained within 6 months of hire
