Job Summary
Administer respiratory therapy treatments including CPAP/BiPAP, ventilators, and tracheostomy care while conducting assessments and modifying treatment plans based on clinical findings. Provide complex pulmonary care such as vest therapy and nebulizer treatments, educate residents and families on safety protocols, and maintain equipment to ensure proper functioning. Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop individualized care plans, document observations in the electronic medical record, and participate in care conferences. Supervise assistants and rehab techs, assist in developing respiratory care protocols, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards and facility policies. Maintain current knowledge of respiratory therapy techniques through continuing education and training.
Required Qualifications
- Associate or bachelor's degree in respiratory therapy from an accredited program
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a respiratory therapy role
- Valid respiratory therapist state license (where applicable)
- Proficiency in CPAP/BiPAP, medical ventilators, tracheostomy care, vest therapy, cough assist, and nebulizers
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements and standards for respiratory therapy in a SNF setting
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.)
- Basic Internet navigation skills
- Must be able to lift fifty (50) pounds of dead weight alone
- Must be able to walk, bend, stand, and reach constantly during a workday/shift
- Must have visual, auditory, and speaking skills sufficient to evaluate, diagnose, communicate, and monitor patient needs
- Must have fine motor skills for legible and accurate writing and keystroking
Desired Qualifications
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credentials preferred
