Job Summary
Assess patients to prevent, detect, monitor, and manage cardiopulmonary disorders, including measuring lung capacity and offering diagnosis results based on analysis. Provide therapeutic intervention and education for patients with sleep disorders or associated complications across Med Surg, Ortho, PEDS, OB, ICU, and Observation Rehab floors. Maintain current Respiratory Therapy licensure and RRT credentials, ensuring all procedures, indications, and hazards are understood while utilizing computers for patient documentation. Complete required orientations, competency validations, and in-servicing as defined by department and hospital standards. Work 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend rotation, supported by a team-oriented environment where leadership is present and visible.
Required Qualifications
- A degree in Respiratory Care from an accredited respiratory care program
- minimum associate degree or equivalent as defined by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
- thorough knowledge and understanding of all procedures, indications, contraindications and hazards involved in respiratory care
- knowledge of equipment utilized in their department
- ability and knowledge required to utilize computers for patient documentation and data gathering
- current Respiratory Therapy licensure in state(s) of practice
- multi-state licensure privileges as required by position
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credentials as attained through the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
- active status according to NBRC credentialing requirements
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS)
- site-specific specialty credential(s) such as Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), etc.
