Job Summary
Perform diagnostic tests including spirometry, diffusion testing, lung volumes, and arterial blood gases for patients. Administer respiratory therapies, educate patients on medication and equipment use, and calibrate, clean, and maintain diagnostic equipment. Recognize equipment malfunctions and respond to emergencies such as CPR. Cross-train in Pulmonary Rehab, serve as a student preceptor, assist with new-employee orientation, and prepare the next day's schedule while ensuring orders are entered into the patient's EMR. Requires current Respiratory Therapy licensure, RRT credentials, and BLS certification. Full-time day shifts at Bemidji Medical Center with a salary range of $32.50 to $44.00 hourly.
Required Qualifications
- A degree in Respiratory Care from an accredited respiratory care program
- minimum associate degree or equivalent as defined by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
- thorough knowledge and understanding of all procedures, indications, contraindications and hazards involved in respiratory care
- knowledge of equipment utilized in their department
- ability and knowledge required to utilize computers for patient documentation and data gathering
- current Respiratory Therapy licensure in state(s) of practice
- multi-state licensure privileges as required by position
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credentials as attained through the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
- active status according to NBRC credentialing requirements
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS)
- site-specific specialty credential(s) such as Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), etc.
