Job Summary
Pulmonary-focused Respiratory Therapist role performing diagnostic tests in the Pulmonary Function Lab (spirometry, diffusion, lung volumes, airway resistance, bronchial provocation testing, exercise testing, exhaled NO, arterial blood gases, CPET, etc.) with duties that may include administering respiratory therapies, patient education on medications/equipment, and equipment maintenance. Primary responsibilities emphasize diagnostic testing, calibration/cleaning of equipment, and readiness to respond to emergencies (e.g., CPR). Opportunities to cross-train in Pulmonary Rehab, participate in new-employee orientation, assist with scheduling, and ensure accurate EMR documentation. Requires NBRC-credentialed RRT, BLS, and state licensure; certifications such as NRP/ACLS/PALS as required by the department.
Required Qualifications
- Degree in Respiratory Care from an accredited program (minimum associate degree or equivalent, NBRC-defined)
- Current Respiratory Therapy licensure in practice state(s) or multi-state licensure as required
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential through NBRC and active status
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Site-specific specialty credentials such as NRP, ACLS, PALS, etc.
