Job Summary
Administer respiratory care as ordered, perform arterial puncture analysis, and interpret results for acid-base balance and ventilatory status. Operate and troubleshoot oxygen delivery devices, ventilators, and monitoring equipment while providing and maintaining patient airways through suctioning and securing tubes. Respond to codes, perform CPR, and intubate or manually ventilate patients during emergencies as required. Assess patient status using laboratory and radiology results, evaluate therapy orders against evidence-based guidelines, and recommend care plan changes. Document all assessments, plans, and education in patient records and report pertinent information to oncoming personnel.
Required Qualifications
- Valid NJ State Respiratory Care Practitioner License
- RRT certification by National Board for Respiratory Care
- BLS certification
- ACLS certification
- NRP certification required within 60 days of hire
- Night Shift
- Part Time Schedule
- 36 hours/week
- Demonstrate knowledge and skill in the use of Oxygen Therapy, BiPAP, CPAP and High Flow Nasal Cannulas (HFNC)
- Demonstrate Knowledge and skill in the use of invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation
- Assess effectiveness of therapy three times per shift
- Comply with all Department, Infection Prevention, and Safety policies and procedures
- Demonstrate knowledge of National Patient Safety Goals and relevant Standards from Joint Commission, Department of Health, CMS and other regulatory bodies
- Consistently meets the attendance guidelines according to RWJBH Policy
- Complete all mandatory Competencies within specified timeframe
- Complete all Net Learning online training within specified timeframe
- Attend external and internal educational programs as part of continuing education
- Assures appropriateness for continuation of discontinuation of therapy
