Job Summary
Respiratory Therapist II (PRN Nights) at Wellstar Griffin, GA: Provides expert respiratory care in ICU/critical care settings with ventilator management, weaning, and arterial blood gas analysis. Responsible for medication administration, aerosolized therapy, airway management (including intubation/extubation), and coordination with the health care team. Includes patient/family education, staff mentorship, and participation in education of new staff and students. Requires coordination of care, adherence to safety and performance-improvement initiatives, and compliance with electronic orders and documentation. Education: accredited respiratory therapy program with science coursework; degrees applicable include Associate’s or Bachelor's with Bachelor's preferred; NBRC-RRT certification and multiple licenses/certifications (BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP or equivalents). Location-specific role focuses on Griffin, GA, with on-site, in-person duties and a strong emphasis on critical care procedures, diagnostic testing, and multidisciplinary collaboration.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited respiratory therapy education program (CoARC or CAAHP) with minimally 20 quarter hours of science
- Bachelor's Degree or higher (implied by the education requirements)
- NBRC-RRT - Registered Respiratory Therapist
- RCP - Respiratory Care Professional
- BLS - Basic Life Support
- ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support
- PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support
- NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation Program or NRP-Provisional or instructor variants
- Experience in critical care and ventilator management
- Ventilator management and weaning
- Arterial blood gas sampling & analysis
- Ability to communicate well and team collaboration
- Computer skills including electronic charting and documentation
