Job Summary
Conduct respiratory care for all patient populations by assessing physical, psychosocial, spiritual, and cultural dimensions while documenting educational needs. Perform treatments including oxygen mixed gas and humidity management, ventilator monitoring, bronchial hygiene, lung expansion, spirometry testing, EKGs, and blood gas analysis. Operate and manage all respiratory equipment, apply therapeutic communication techniques, and participate in cardiopulmonary resuscitation via airway management and closed chest cardiac massage. Review electronic medical records and physician orders throughout the shift, facilitate workflow efficiency, and adhere to department policies, safety standards, and governmental regulations. Various PRN shifts available including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's degree (AAS) or higher from an AMA accredited program in respiratory care
- 0-3 years of acute care experience
- Registry eligible
- CRT - Certified Respiratory Therapist by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NRBC)
- RCP - Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner in Maryland
- CPR - Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation (includes BLS and NRP) for healthcare providers from either the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within 90 Days
- ACLS NRP PALS and other certifications
- Working knowledge of human respiratory anatomy physiology and pathology as related to respiratory care
- Knowledge of the operation of respiratory care equipment and its application in a clinical setting
- Ability to assess hazardous conditions related to respiratory care and take corrective action
- Ability to remain calm and function under stressful conditions
- Must work well as a team member
- Must be articulate and communicate well with all types of people
- Various PRN Shifts available - Day, Nights, Weekends, Holidays
