Job Summary
Provide direct and indirect patient care across all facility departments, assessing respiratory-compromised patients from neonatal to geriatric populations. Administer inhalants, operate mechanical ventilators, and draw arterial blood gases while interpreting results to advocate for appropriate treatment plans. Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to ensure safe, effective care, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of respiratory therapies and facility protocols. Support diverse patient needs by respecting cultural and religious practices while adhering to HIPAA, OSHA, and EMTALA regulations. Perform varied duties including assisting with transfers, cleaning patient rooms, and managing call lights. Requires current unencumbered RT license, BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications, plus two years of ER/ICU and pediatric experience.
Required Qualifications
- Graduated from an accredited school of Respiratory Therapy
- At least 2 years of ER/ ICU experience as an RT
- At least 2 years of experience with pediatric patients
- Current unencumbered RT license in the state of practice
- Current BLS certification
- Current ACLS certification
- Current PALS certification
- Be familiar with LTV 1200 ventilators
- Assess and interpret evaluations and test results pertinent to their scope of practice
- Draw ABG's as ordered and interpret results
- Determine respiratory treatment plans in consultation with the medical staff
- Administer inhalants
- Operate mechanical ventilators
- Administer therapeutic gas administration apparatus
- Operate environmental control systems
- Operate aerosol generators
- Maintain up to date knowledge on care relating to respiratory treatment
- Remains punctual and dependent for assigned shifts
- Communicate with members of the care team to provide safe care
- Respect cultural/ religious practices of patients
- Uphold HIPAA, OSHA, and EMTALA regulations
- Follows facility and OSHA safety rules and procedures while on assignment
- Follows Exceptional Healthcare's policies and protocols
