Job Summary
Set up, apply, and administer respiratory therapy treatments using a complete range of respiratory equipment, controlling factors such as respiratory ratio, pressure, volume, and oxygen percentage. Administer aerosol medications, continuously monitor patient conditions, and perform pulmonary consultations to recommend therapy modes and medication. Evaluate therapy effectiveness through auscultation, laboratory tests, and clinical observation, while performing basic and advanced pulmonary function testing and blood gas analysis. Provide emergency assistance including cardiopulmonary resuscitation, maintain required records, and oversee training of new personnel in the Blood Gas Laboratory. Assist in setting up quality control standards, reconditioning equipment, and educating patients on disease processes and home therapy equipment. Follow organizational policies, safety standards, and infection control protocols while meeting annual competency and retraining requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree or equivalent
- Respiratory Therapist license in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for the Healthcare Provider certification from the American Heart Association
- NRP from the American Academy of Pediatrics
- Six months to one year of experience
