Job Summary
Assess patient needs in respiratory therapy and administer interventions including oxygen, aerosolized bronchodilator therapy, and mechanical ventilation. Conduct cardiopulmonary diagnostics such as arterial blood gas sampling and pulmonary function testing while documenting procedures in patient charts. Prioritize workload based on acuity, manage medical supply inventories, and maintain emergency airway carts. Provide education to patients and families regarding cardiopulmonary disease and home care device usage. Work three 12-hour days rotating weekends and holidays within a 24/7 schedule. Maintain required licenses, certifications, and competencies while applying evidence-based best practices.
Required Qualifications
- Active BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications required within 30 days of hire
- Must have completed an AMA approved Respiratory Therapy program earning a two-year associate degree in respiratory care
- Current State License to practice as a Respiratory Care Practitioner
- Must be able to read, speak and comprehend the English language
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
- Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs
- Must be able to work in a high-paced environment where multi-tasking, prioritizing and sound decision-making skills are required
- Must be able to manage anger/fear/hostility/violence
- Must be able to manage stress appropriately
- Must be able to work alone
- Must be able to work with others
- Must possess the physical and mental abilities to perform the tasks normally associated with this position
- Must be able to perform all essential functions of this position with reasonable accommodation if disabled
- Must maintain up-to-date certifications and safety training
- Must complete annual/critical competencies
- Must identify personal learning needs and seek opportunities and keep educational training log current
- Must stay informed about changes and advances in the field

Desired Qualifications
