Job Summary
Assess, plan, evaluate, educate, and deliver quality respiratory therapy to patients on life support equipment while initiating and adjusting mechanical respirators. Perform arterial blood gas collections, maintain and troubleshoot clinical equipment, and document all therapy and charges in the EMR. Act as a resource for physicians and nursing staff, participate in Medical Emergency Alert and Rapid Response Teams, and strictly adhere to infection control policies. Maintain patient assessment skills and department cleanliness while establishing priorities for emergency situations. Requires CRT credentials, RRT within 12 months, Wisconsin licensure, and NRP certification.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an AMA-approved program for Respiratory Therapists
- Certified by the National Board of Respiratory Care as a Respiratory Therapist (CRT credentials)
- RRT credentials obtained within 12 months of hire
- Licensed by the State of Wisconsin to practice Respiratory Therapy
- CPR certification
- NRP Certified
- Ability to interpret test results and make appropriate therapy recommendations
- Must be able to establish priorities and respond in emergency situations
- Good listening and communication skills
- Maturity and ethics consistent with the practice of respiratory therapy
- Maintains ethical conduct and confidentiality regarding personal and medical information on patients
