Job Summary
Conduct comprehensive respiratory and ventilator assessments, evaluate weaning potential, and develop individualized care plans for medically fragile children. Initiate ventilator weaning protocols per physician orders, administer prescribed treatments, and monitor clinical indicators and ventilator parameters. Perform scheduled and PRN interventions while documenting ventilation checks every 12 hours and maintaining accurate progress notes. Educate families and staff on respiratory equipment, communicate findings to the interdisciplinary team, and ensure safe, cost-effective use of supplies. This role offers a slower pace than acute care with continuity of care for ventilator-dependent patients, featuring a 12-hour night shift from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM with a premium differential.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Respiratory Therapy
- Active, unencumbered Pennsylvania Respiratory Therapist license
- RRT or CRT credentialed by the National Board for Respiratory Care
- Current CPR (AHA Healthcare Provider) certification
- At least 21 years of age
