Job Summary
Assess physical, psychosocial, spiritual, and cultural dimensions of patients while documenting educational needs. Perform respiratory therapy treatments including oxygen management, ventilator monitoring, bronchial hygiene, lung expansion, spirometry, EKGs, and blood gas analysis. Operate, monitor, and manage all respiratory equipment. Review electronic medical records and physician orders throughout the shift. Respond to cardiopulmonary resuscitation by maintaining airways, providing oxygen and ventilation via mask or endotracheal tube, and performing closed chest cardiac massage. Apply therapeutic communication, interviewing, problem-solving, and crisis intervention techniques. Contribute to department goals while adhering to policies, quality standards, safety standards, and governmental regulations. Maintain CRT and RCP certifications, process Maryland practice licenses, and hold current CPR, ACLS, NRP, and PALS credentials. Work part-time with a salary range of $39.25 to $64.71 per hour.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's degree or higher from an AMA accredited program in respiratory care
- 0-3 years of acute care experience
- Registry eligible
- CRT - Certified Respiratory Therapist by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NRBC)
- Must process and maintain license to practice Respiratory Care in Maryland
- CPR - Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation (includes BLS and NRP) for healthcare providers from either the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within 90 Days
- ACLS NRP PALS and other certifications
- Working knowledge of human respiratory anatomy physiology and pathology as related to respiratory care
- Knowledge of the operation of respiratory care equipment and its application in a clinical setting
- Ability to assess hazardous conditions related to respiratory care and take corrective action
- Ability to remain calm and function under stressful conditions
- Must work well as a team member
- Must be articulate and communicate well with all types of people
